Give Me Love

Tequila Sunset

Tequila Sunset. Colors from our boy.💜

One of the ways I process our situation is to write to our dear son in a special journal, dedicated to him. If I’m missing him, I sit down to write. Listening to music while I pour my thoughts onto the page can elevate the closeness with him. I have a playlist of songs he’s sent to share his messages, the lyrics speaking for him.  Tears slip down my cheeks as I write and I know we are connecting.

One Sunday I’m listening to our songs and a new one pops up. George Harrison’s Give Me Love. I stop writing to listen. I don’t have it anywhere in my collection of liked songs. I wonder if A was up to something. I was skeptical since this was in the early days when we didn’t know if anything was heaven-sent or coincidence, Is Spotify going rogue?

I click on the lyrics to copy the message into my journal, but I’m not fast enough. (I know, I could look later, but I’m in the moment.) It’s just the algorithm I think, but then it REPEATS. I read the lyrics more carefully and I’m getting misty-eyed. But still, I think maybe I just hit the repeat button. I didn’t.

purple heart journal

Ecstatic! As expressed in my journal.💜

When I look at the album cover for the song, I KNOW, it’s him.  A tequila sunrise or sunset is inside a hand, outlined in neon purple, the album cover. The colors only appear to me on special occasions like Christmas. This is a special day alright.

Give Me Love Cover

I like to think the hand belongs to A; it’s George’s, of course.💜

And just in case I was still in doubt, Here Comes The Sun by The Beatles plays. That is a signature song from A for his parents, so we know for sure, for sure, he’s with us.

Somehow, he chooses the perfect words to bring me comfort. Our website theme is the importance of LOVE and that we have it if we believe we’re deserving or if it’s possible.

While lead lyrics hold the title, a couple of verses down, I think, is to help me or to understand him.

Give Me Love, Give Me Love

Give Me Peace on Earth….

Give me hope, help me cope with this heavy load.

Trying to touch and reach you with heart and soul.

Oh My Lord, take hold of my Hand…

Dang. I love my boy. Sniff.

I cherish the mini-joys in the middle of our healing. This kind of thing I want to shout from the mountain tops. “Look what he sent me!”

Add Give Me Love to one of your playlists for the times you need love, hope, and peace on earth.

So beautiful Francie. I just let out a big, deep sigh. What a lovely way to hold A in your hands and hearts. By the way, when my dad died, I started a journal of “letters” to him. At 93, his passing was no mystery, but we missed him deeply. The letters were a wonderful way to hold him close.

    • Francie

A group of friends put together a care package and the journal was part of it. I don’t think anyone could predict what would gointo that journal. It’s saving me. I’m glad to reunite. Reading my blog again. Thank you my dear frined.💜

Music is the great healer … and one of the most powerful ways those we love – who are now gone can give us a gentle nudge or big ole hug to let us know they are right here with us.

One of my favorite songs from childhood that my mom and I used to listen to together is A Bridge Over Troubles Water … I was with her when she left us and just a few minutes later that song came on my Alexa … I found myself listening to the words of this song in a way that I had never done so before … and this song was absolutely my mom telling me that she’s still going to be “sailing right behind” …

The timing of when I hear that song in my daily life now sometimes it brings me to my knees … I know my mom is still there when I need her most.

My heart is full for you, knowing that A is right there with you and Tony guiding you through your grief with music 💜💜💜 and guiding your pen to help those in the world who need to read your words. 😇

    • Francie

Wow Val! I’m moved and warmed by your words and your connection to your mom. I remember how close you were with her so to me this is beautiful and perfect. Funny how the other side just knows. A keeps finding ways to tell us he’s still looking over us. You’ll be hearing more about that…💜

Thank you, once again Francie , for opening your heart and sharing such meaningful insights. I will truly never think of this song in the same way again. I had never taken the time to really think about the lyrics. I can see, and will use it, as a source of comfort and hope whenever the need arises. I think of you and Tony often.

    • Francie

Isn’t it crazy how a song can take on a different meaning under different circumstances or if someone spells it out to you? I’m glad this is a song that will resonate with you. thank you for sharing and reaching out.💜

Rather than Coincidence, those in Recovery say “Is it Odd, Or is it God?” It is all connected, as we are all connected. Coincidence is also referred to as God Winks. You may enjoy “ When God Winks: How the Power of Coincidence Guides Your Life”

    • Francie

Right there with you George. I’ve read parts of God Winks. A book I found especially enlightening is Signs by Laura Lynn Jackson. What we are getting from Alexander is beyond winks; it’s a coazy blanket, purple of course.💜
